Pace Digitek Limited, a well-established provider of telecom passive infrastructure solutions, has launched a new manufacturing facility in Bidadi Industrial Area, Karnataka. This facility, operated through its subsidiary Lineage Power Private Limited, is dedicated to producing battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The plant is designed to produce 2.5 GWh of battery storage capacity annually, with plans to potentially double that output. These battery systems store surplus energy from renewable sources like solar and wind, releasing it when demand peaks or generation drops. BESS technology serves multiple applications, from residential and commercial to utility-scale projects, by efficiently managing the charging and discharging of electrical energy.

Maddisetty Venugopal Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Pace Digitek, stated, “Opening this facility marks a significant step forward. It strengthens our manufacturing reach and aligns with India’s push to expand renewable energy capacity.” The company aims to supply sustainable battery storage solutions in support of India’s renewable energy goals. Rao added, “This initiative reflects our commitment to innovation and renewable energy advancement.”

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi highlighted the importance of battery storage in achieving a self-reliant energy future. He emphasized the government’s focus on developing energy storage infrastructure to maximize the use of solar and wind power beyond generation hours. Joshi also pointed to the sector’s investment potential and encouraged entrepreneurs to engage with this expanding market.

Mr Joshi remarked, “India’s energy revolution has moved from electricity to digital technology, and the next wave will be powered by battery storage systems, which will transform how power is managed and consumed.”

Energy Minister KL George announced that all solar power plants in Karnataka will eventually be required to incorporate battery storage capable of holding at least two hours of solar output. He explained that this is necessary to store daytime solar power for nighttime use, reinforcing the state’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Mr George noted, “Renewable sources now account for 65 percent of Karnataka’s power generation. While solar and wind capacity has grown substantially, effective storage solutions are critical to ensure a stable grid and meet demand efficiently. The central government’s promotion of storage projects, along with private sector involvement, is encouraging for the sector’s future.”
