Otter Controls India, a joint venture with UK-headquartered Otter Controls Ltd, has officially opened its fourth manufacturing plant in the Chakan-Pune industrial corridor. With an investment of $4.5 million, the newly inaugurated facility was unveiled by Avnish Malhotra, India Lead – Future Mobility Department for Business & Trade and Head of the British Trade Office in Pune.
The new site marks a major step forward in the company’s growth strategy, boosting its overall production capacity by 75% and creating 1,000 new jobs in the region. Spanning 96,000 square feet, the plant is a key element in Otter Controls India’s broader push to deepen its local footprint and reinforce domestic supply chains—fully aligned with the ‘Make in India’ mission. The company previously received the National Productivity & Innovation Award in recognition of its contributions to this initiative.
“This facility is a symbol of our long-term commitment to Indian manufacturing,” said Ulhas K Joshi, Managing Director of Otter Controls India. “Beyond increasing capacity, this investment supports local employment, strengthens supply chains, and reflects our belief in India’s industrial potential.”
Outfitted with cutting-edge systems, including a Clean Room Facility ISO 8 / Class 100,000, the new plant will enable Otter Controls India to expand into high-tech segments such as Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) for both automotive and industrial applications. It will also increase production of specialized components like Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) molded parts and complex wiring systems.
