Oswal Pumps Limited has announced the receipt of a significant order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under the PM Kusum-B scheme, “MagelTyala Saur Krishi Pump” Yojana. The order, valued at ₹162.06 crore (inclusive of GST), involves the supply and deployment of 6,869 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across Maharashtra.
The project includes end-to-end execution, covering design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of solar-powered pumping systems. These units will be installed at designated farmer locations and will be available in 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP capacities, catering to varied irrigation needs.
The initiative is aimed at promoting the use of renewable energy in agriculture while enabling reliable and cost-effective irrigation solutions. By deploying solar-powered systems, the project is expected to reduce dependence on conventional grid electricity and diesel-powered pumps, supporting both economic and environmental sustainability.
Commenting on the development, Vivek Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Oswal Pumps Limited, stated that the repeat order reflects continued confidence from MSEDCL in the company’s execution capabilities. He noted that the project aligns with the organization’s focus on delivering efficient solar pumping solutions and supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
The deployment is expected to benefit nearly 6,869 farming households across Maharashtra by providing access to clean energy-based irrigation systems. This is likely to reduce operational costs for farmers while also lowering carbon emissions associated with traditional irrigation methods.
The project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen energy access in the agricultural sector and advance the adoption of decentralized renewable energy solutions. It also contributes to national objectives of enhancing energy independence and improving rural infrastructure.
