Orion Packaging Systems, a product brand of ProMach and a leading manufacturer of pallet stretch wrapping equipment, has unveiled the Orion Flex Legion semi-automatic turntable stretch wrapper. Designed and manufactured entirely in the United States, the new system broadens Orion’s Flex portfolio while reinforcing its commitment to American manufacturing, dependable supply chains, and long-term customer value.
Flex Legion replaces Orion’s previous imported entry-level model with a fully domestic solution built to provide consistent quality, stable lead times, and improved oversight of total ownership costs. By centralising design, engineering, sourcing, and production within the United States, Orion reduces exposure to global supply disruptions and tariff fluctuations while maintaining closer control over components, inventory management, and pricing.
According to Pat Pownell, Director of Sales at Orion, the Flex Legion has been developed to deliver reliable performance over the long term. He noted that U.S.-based manufacturing allows Orion to respond quickly to customer requirements, uphold consistent build standards, and offer an entry-level system that performs beyond typical expectations for its category.
Although positioned as Orion’s entry point into semi-automatic pallet wrapping, Flex Legion reflects the same engineering principles applied across the Flex series. The machine features an Allen-Bradley HMI interface combined with straightforward manual adjustment controls for turntable speed, carriage movement, and film tension.
Constructed with a heavy-duty structural steel base frame and an all-steel tower, the system is engineered for durability and operational stability. It supports pallet loads up to 4,000 pounds, with configuration options suited for operations ranging from approximately 20 loads per day to 20 loads per hour. This flexibility enables manufacturers and distribution facilities to scale capacity as requirements grow.
From an engineering perspective, Flex Legion shares architecture and common components with other Flex models, improving reliability while simplifying maintenance and reducing the number of spare parts customers must stock. The system incorporates a powered InstaThread™ carriage capable of delivering uniform 200 percent film pre-stretch. This feature promotes consistent load containment while lowering film usage compared with friction-based or core-brake mechanisms often found in entry-level equipment.
Designed for companies transitioning from manual wrapping to automation, Flex Legion offers intuitive controls and dependable performance across a wide range of industries, including food, beverage, and general manufacturing. As part of the ProMach Robotics & End of Line portfolio, Orion continues to deliver durable, cost-effective pallet wrapping systems that safeguard product loads and support efficient end-of-line operations.
