OPmobility is stepping up its presence in India, the world’s third-largest automotive market, with significant new investments in manufacturing and engineering. The company has inaugurated a new facility in Badhalwadi, Maharashtra, and commenced construction of another plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, as part of its long-term plan to more than double its revenue in India by 2030.

With five operational plants in the country, the launch of the Badhalwadi site marks an important milestone. It is OPmobility’s first Indian facility to combine exterior systems and energy storage system production under one roof. Meanwhile, the upcoming Kharkhoda plant—where the foundation stone was laid in August 2025—will focus exclusively on energy storage solutions and is scheduled to begin operations in early 2026.

India’s automotive production is projected to grow at an average rate of 5.2% annually between 2025 and 2030. In this fast-evolving landscape, OPmobility already supplies components to over one-third of vehicles manufactured in the country.

In addition to boosting its production footprint, the company is also deepening its local capabilities in engineering, digital development, and software innovation. India is now home to four research and development centers supporting both domestic and global projects. This expansion of technical capabilities recently led to a major contract win for OPmobility, achieved through the record-fast development of a new product for an Indian automotive customer.

Further strengthening its tech presence, OPmobility’s software division, OP’nSoft, has established a development hub in Bangalore, Karnataka, to serve increasing demand for software-driven mobility solutions.

The company’s commitment to sustainability and local development is also evident at its new Badhalwadi facility, which generates 35% of its energy needs through solar power. The site also stands out for having a predominantly female workforce. In parallel, OPmobility is actively supporting nearby communities, including funding the expansion of the local Navlakh Umbre village school and providing it with new digital learning tools.

Laurent Favre, Chief Executive Officer of OPmobility, commented “India represents a key market for our global strategy. With a strong and growing automotive sector, a skilled talent pool, and long-standing relationships with both Indian and international manufacturers, India is central to our goal of increasing global sales and diversifying our geographic footprint. Strengthening our R&D, digital, and software capabilities here not only supports local growth but also enhances our competitiveness across all markets.”

Founded in 1946, OPmobility is a global leader in sustainable mobility solutions, working closely with automakers around the world. The Group is structured around four business areas: exterior and lighting systems, complex modules, energy storage systems, and battery/hydrogen electrification. It also operates OP’nSoft, a dedicated software entity.

In 2024, OPmobility reported €11.6 billion in revenue and operates a global network that includes 150 manufacturing sites and 40 R&D centers, employing nearly 39,000 people. The company is listed on Euronext Paris (Compartment A) and is included in the SBF 120 and CAC Mid 60 indices.
