Their automatic beer tap, designed to minimize wait times and eliminate foam-over, is making waves in the festival scene. The team needed a fast linear guide with minimal friction to achieve rapid dispensing while maintaining precision within a tenth of a millimeter. Moreover, due to its application in the food sector, it required 100% lubrication-free operation with FDA compliance.
After an extensive search, One Two Beer GmbH engineers discovered the ideal solution at igus: a complete linear guide unit featuring a compact dry spin-series lead screw and lead screw nut, complemented by a suitable stepper motor.
The innovative linear guide operates by attaching the tap to a flange lead screw nut from the dry spin JFRM series. As the NEMA 23 lead screw stepper motor rotates the lead screw, the tap moves up or down. The lead screw nut is constructed from FDA-compliant high-performance plastic, ensuring low-friction dry operation without the need for lubrication. This unique material prevents the accumulation of dirt, making it easy to clean with water or high pressure. The plastic-stainless steel combination guarantees both hygienic operation and corrosion resistance, eliminating the need for regular maintenance.
Igus has improved the nut’s thread edges by 1.3, enhancing the dryspin technology. A broader thread pitch and optimized thread flanks provide greater power transmission and exceptional tribological properties, resulting in a 30% longer service life compared to symmetrical trapezoidal threads.
