One Electric has unveiled plans to launch the KRIDN X, a new motorcycle designed specifically for city commuting, targeting both urban and rural riders. The KRIDN X draws on six years of experience and the performance data of over 2,000 vehicles tested in India and across various African countries, accumulating millions of kilometers of real-world usage.
Gaurav Uppal, CEO of One Electric, commented, “Our extensive experience with electric motorcycles in diverse conditions, different driving habits, and varying geographies has led to the creation of KRIDN X. While our original model, the KRIDN, successfully met rider expectations, we identified three key elements necessary to scale globally: Quality, Affordability, and Range.”
The company is aiming to offer a motorcycle that is not only affordable but also provides a daily range of up to 200 kilometers without the need for frequent charging or battery swapping, while maintaining the same high torque and durability.
Abhijeet Shah, CTO of One Electric, added, “The KRIDN X was designed with these three goals—Quality, Affordability, and Range—at its core. Over two years of development, we partnered with leading original equipment suppliers to secure high-quality components at a more competitive price. We’re proud to announce that we’ve achieved 100% localization for this model, which allows us to offer a warranty of up to 4 years or 60,000 kilometers.”
While the EV scooter market has grown to nearly 20% of the total scooter market, the EV motorcycle segment remains small, accounting for only 1%. One Electric sees this as a significant opportunity, with the KRIDN X designed to meet the unique needs of this segment. The company aims to sell 30,000 units per month over the next three years and become the leading choice for electric motorcycles in India.
The KRIDN X boasts high torque, making it capable of carrying loads up to 225 kilograms and handling steep gradients common in urban areas. While the motorcycle’s range is sufficient for most city commutes, One Electric has also provided battery swapping options for specific user needs. The KRIDN X will initially be launched in Delhi NCR and Pune in April 2025, with plans for gradual expansion across India in subsequent phases.
Gaurav Uppal further explained, “We know that having a great product isn’t enough. Outstanding after-sales service and easily accessible, affordable spare parts are crucial for building customer trust. Our strategy will focus on collaborating with select B2B partners while initially offering a limited number of units to direct consumers. We plan to expand our operations progressively, ensuring that every customer is satisfied with their vehicle. We’re confident that KRIDN X will create a niche and be well received.”
Founded in 2019, One Electric has multiple design patents for its electric two-wheelers, all manufactured in India. In addition to operations in India and various African nations, the company is also exploring markets in the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
