OMRON, a leading name in industrial automation technology, has officially opened a new Automation Center in Bengaluru, further strengthening its presence in India and reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country’s manufacturing transformation. The facility is the latest addition to OMRON’s global network of 44 Automation Centers and Proof-of-Concept (PoC) labs. Strategically located to serve manufacturers across South India and the wider region, the center aims to help companies — including small and medium-sized enterprises — enhance their production capabilities and adopt globally competitive automation solutions.
The center will play a key role in promoting the government’s “Make in India” vision and advancing Industry 4.0 adoption. It provides a collaborative space where manufacturers, machine builders, and system integrators can explore tailored automation strategies, test new concepts, and receive hands-on technical training.
The launch comes at a time when India and Japan are deepening their technological and economic collaboration. With Japan pledging investments of up to ¥10 trillion over the next decade in high-tech sectors including semiconductors and digital infrastructure, the new center reflects both countries’ shared objective of positioning India as a major player in the global manufacturing landscape.
India’s manufacturing sector is targeting a significant expansion, aiming to raise its share of GDP to 23% over the next 20 years. The shift requires sustained progress in areas such as automation, skills development, and infrastructure. OMRON’s new facility is designed to support this evolution by promoting the adoption of smart technologies that improve productivity and reduce operational inefficiencies.
Speaking at the event, Motohiro Yamanishi, President of OMRON’s Industrial Automation division, stated “India’s manufacturing sector is entering a crucial phase of growth. This new center reflects our strong belief in the region’s potential. It’s not just a place to showcase products — it’s a space to co-develop solutions that meet real-world challenges. Our goal is to work closely with local partners to strengthen their global competitiveness.”
OMRON’s Industrial Automation division delivers complete automation systems across a broad range of industries. Its product portfolio includes advanced technologies such as sensors, vision systems, servo drives, programmable controllers, robotics, and machine safety solutions — designed around its integrated approach known as ILOR+S (Input, Logic, Output, Robotics, and Safety).
In India, OMRON has had a dedicated presence for over 20 years, supporting a wide array of industries such as automotive, packaging, food and beverages, material handling, and electronics. The company continues to expand its solution-oriented approach, focusing on robotics and Industrial IoT (IIoT) to offer integrated systems that increase operational efficiency across manufacturing sites. OMRON supports customers through its extensive nationwide network of offices, engineers, PoC labs, training centers, and channel partners — providing localized support for increasingly complex manufacturing demands.
