OMRON Automation Launches New PoC Lab In India

A glimpse of OMRON New PoC Lab for AOI solutions at Pune.

OMRON, a leading provider of advanced industrial automation solutions, has unveiled its state-of-the-art proof-of-concept (PoC) lab in Baner, Pune. This facility aims to offer customers an immersive experience, allowing them to explore and witness the latest advancements in Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) technology.

The newly inaugurated lab is inspired by OMRON’s innovative i-Automation! concept, which emphasizes integration, intelligence, and interactivity. It serves as a platform for customers to discover OMRON’s cutting-edge AOI machine, the 3D AOI VT-S10 series. This machine caters to various optical inspection needs for Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) printed circuit boards (PCBs) across a wide range of industries, including automotive (including electric vehicles), telecom, consumer electronics, and healthcare.

The 3D AOI VT-S10 series boasts several notable features that enhance efficiency and accuracy. With its higher field of view (FOV), higher resolution cameras, and improved accuracy of up to 99% first pass yield (FPY), it can detect and report all types of SMT and Through Hole (TH) defects with exceptional precision.

At the PoC lab, the demonstration of the 3D AOI VT-S10 series is fully automated by seamlessly integrating various OMRON cobots and robots, such as the LD90 AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot). This automation streamlines the end-of-line PCB transportation process, aligning with OMRON’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions to customers.

Situated in the bustling city of Pune, the lab also serves as a collaborative space where current and potential partners can benefit from physical training, skill-up workshops, and the evaluation of their own PCBs. Additionally, virtual demonstration sessions are available for those unable to visit in person. With Pune emerging as a prominent hub for the automobile and electronics industries, which supply major manufacturing hubs in western India, customers can explore the integration of OMRON’s technologies into real-world applications across different sectors.

Spanning an expansive area of 3000 square meters, the launch of this facility aligns with OMRON’s dedication to delivering exceptional customer service and innovative solutions. By providing a space where customers can witness the capabilities of OMRON’s products firsthand, the company aims to empower them to make well-informed decisions.
