India’s inaugural JBM Electric Medical Mobile Unit (MMU) was unveiled today in New Delhi by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Developed entirely in India, the MMU aligns with the Prime Minister’s health initiative, PM Jan Aarogya Yojna (PM-JAY), aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility in rural and semi-urban regions.
Mobile Medical Units, a key component of the National Health Mission (NHM), operate as “Hospitals on Wheels,” delivering medical services directly to underserved and vulnerable communities. The MMU was showcased by JBM Electric Vehicles, an e-mobility solutions provider, to notable attendees, including Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Manohar Lal, and Dr. S.K. Sarin, Director of the Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences. Joining them were JBM Group Chairman Shri S.K. Arya and Vice Chairman Shri Nishant Arya.
Designed as a fully equipped mobile healthcare facility, the MMU provides primary care, diagnostic services, and emergency assistance in remote areas. It features advanced medical equipment, including a defibrillator, fibroscan, bio-chemistry analyzer, centrifuge, blood transport box, and ECG machine. The unit also supports teleconsultation services to connect patients with specialists.
