Ola Electric has expanded its Shakti energy storage portfolio with new products designed for residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale applications. The company unveiled Shakti Rack and Mahashakti, extending its battery storage business from home energy backup to large-scale energy infrastructure.

The portfolio is built around indigenous lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology and Ola Electric’s vertically integrated cell-to-system manufacturing capabilities. The company said the new range is aimed at helping consumers and businesses store electricity when it is available and use it when required.

The Shakti portfolio will cover three key segments. Shakti Gen2 is designed for homes, Shakti Rack targets commercial and infrastructure applications, while Mahashakti is aimed at industrial and utility-scale energy storage projects. Shakti Gen2 combines battery backup, solar storage and energy management in a single residential system. The 4.6 kWh model is priced at an introductory ₹99,999, while the 9.2 kWh model is priced at ₹1,74,999. Reservations are open for ₹999, with deliveries expected to begin in November 2026.

For commercial customers, Ola Electric will introduce Shakti AC Rack and Shakti DC Rack. The AC Rack combines the battery and inverter into one system, while the DC Rack connects directly with compatible DC infrastructure. Both products are modular and are scheduled to become available from March 2027.

The Mahashakti range will address larger industrial and utility requirements. Mahashakti Rack is designed for commercial and industrial loads, while the 6.26 MWh Mahashakti container is intended for utility-scale projects. The architecture can be expanded from individual containers to large energy storage plants.

“Shakti extends our battery and cell technology beyond electric mobility, from the home to the grid,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric. He said the portfolio would use the company’s Gigafactory, indigenous LFP cells and distribution network to develop energy storage solutions.

Ola Electric has also signed an MoU with Axis Energy for potential deployment of up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems by 2032 under the Mahashakti platform. The company said its energy storage products will use LFP technology and benefit from its vertically integrated manufacturing approach. Shakti Rack, Mahashakti Rack and Mahashakti are scheduled for March 2027, with reservations available for the upcoming products.

Ola Electric operates the Krishnagiri Gigafactory and Battery Innovation Centre in Bengaluru, with research and development activities across India, the UK and the US. The company also has a nationwide retail and distribution network supporting its electric mobility business.
