Oil India Limited (OIL) and Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Saturday to promote environmental sustainability and adopt cleaner energy alternatives. The agreement aims to facilitate cooperation in the conversion of municipal solid waste (MSW) into compressed biogas (CBG).
Oil India Limited (OIL) is one of the leading public sector undertaking in the Indian oil and gas industry. Established in 1959, OIL is engaged in the exploration, production, and transportation of crude oil and natural gas. With a focus on sustainable development, OIL has played a pivotal role in India’s energy landscape. Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), situated in the northeastern city of Guwahati, is a local governing body responsible for civic administration.
Formed to enhance the quality of urban life, GMC oversees various municipal services, including waste management, infrastructure development, and public health initiatives. As the largest city corporation in Assam, GMC plays a crucial role in fostering community well-being and urban development. Both OIL and GMC contribute significantly to the economic and social progress of their respective domains, exemplifying excellence in their sectors.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially executed with the participation of Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, the Managing Director of NRL, representing Oil India Limited (OIL), and Megha Nidhi Dahal (IAS), the Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC). This agreement was formalized at the NRL Corporate Office in Guwahati, where the ceremony witnessed the presence of Ranjit Rath, Chairman & Managing Director of OIL, alongside Pankaj Goswami, Director (Operations), and Ashok Das, Director (HR).
In this collaborative endeavor, the Managing Director of NRL, Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, played a pivotal role, symbolizing the commitment of Oil India Limited. On the other hand, Commissioner Megha Nidhi Dahal, representing the Guwahati Municipal Corporation, exemplified the local government’s engagement in the mutually beneficial agreement.
The distinguished presence of OIL’s leadership, including Ranjit Rath, as Chairman & Managing Director, Pankaj Goswami, as Director (Operations), and Ashok Das, as Director (HR), underscored the collective efforts and commitment to the successful implementation of the MoU. The NRL Corporate Office in Guwahati served as the official venue for the signing, adding a sense of formality and significance to this collaborative initiative between Oil India Limited and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.
