Optical Gaging Products (OGP), a division of Quality Vision International (QVI), has introduced SmartScope E18, a high-capacity benchtop video measurement system designed to provide fully automated three-axis measurement in a compact footprint.
The SmartScope E18 combines a 300 x 300 mm XY measuring range with a space-efficient benchtop configuration, offering manufacturers automated dimensional inspection without requiring a large dedicated area for metrology equipment. The system is suited for production floors, quality laboratories and other manufacturing environments where floor space is limited.
The system features OGP’s IntelliCentric-E fixed-lens optical system, which provides high-resolution imaging for video measurement applications. VIRTUAL ZOOM technology enables detailed inspection of part features and supports measurement across a range of component geometries.

The SmartScope E18 comes equipped with an LED illumination system as standard. Coaxial, substage profile and SmartRing illumination provide multiple lighting configurations for different component features, helping improve image contrast during automated measurement.
A compact fixed-bridge architecture and heavy-duty base provide a rigid platform designed for measurement stability and repeatability. The orthogonal construction supports consistent measurement performance while maintaining the system’s compact dimensions.
For applications requiring both optical and tactile inspection, the SmartScope E18 can be configured with an optional touch probe. This multisensor capability enables manufacturers to combine video and tactile measurements on a single automated system, reducing the need for separate inspection equipment.
The SmartScope E18 is supplied with Measure-X software, the standard measurement software for E-Series systems. ZONE3 software is also available for E-Series systems requiring full 3D measurement capabilities and additional advanced software functions.
The combination of automated three-axis video measurement, a 300 x 300 mm measuring stage, LED illumination, rigid construction and optional multisensor functionality makes the SmartScope E18 suitable for manufacturers seeking expanded inspection capabilities within a limited workspace.
