HHP Five Private Limited, a subsidiary of Hygenco Green Energies Pvt Ltd, marked a significant step forward with the foundation-laying ceremony of its Green Ammonia plant in Gopalpur, Odisha. The event was led by Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha, along with key state officials and industry representatives. This project further establishes Odisha as a rising center for clean energy development and places Gopalpur prominently on the map of India’s low-carbon industrial growth.

Hygenco is set to develop a green ammonia production facility with a total planned capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per year. The project will be executed in three phases, beginning with Phase 1 in 2028, which will deliver an initial output of 220 KTPA (kilo tonnes per annum). This will be followed by Phase 2 in 2029, adding another 220 KTPA to the production capacity.

By 2030 and beyond, the facility will enter its third phase, which aims to significantly scale operations with an additional 730 KTPA, bringing the total annual production to 1.1 million tonnes. This phased approach reflects Hygenco’s long-term commitment to advancing green hydrogen derivatives and supporting global decarbonization goals. This facility follows Hygenco’s earlier milestone—the commissioning of India’s first commercial-scale Green Hydrogen plant. That project is already supporting emission reductions in the steel industry.

Amit Bansal, Co-founder and CEO of Hygenco, emphasized the company’s broader mission: “Following our success in Green Hydrogen, this new venture into Green Ammonia will help drive industrial decarbonization while creating export potential. It’s a step toward building a self-reliant energy future for India.”

Located near the Gopalpur port, the plant is strategically positioned to serve both domestic markets and international buyers. It is expected to contribute to local employment during both the construction and operational phases.

Based in Gurgaon, Hygenco is focused on the development of cost-effective green hydrogen and ammonia infrastructure. The company aims to deploy 10 GW of capacity by 2030 as part of its long-term clean energy roadmap. With operational and upcoming projects across the country, Hygenco continues to build on its technical expertise to support India’s climate and energy goals.
