Nuberg EPC, a global frontrunner in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), has secured the pivotal PPP contract from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL). This project encompasses the detailed design, crafting, delivery, and commissioning of a Propylene Purification Package at IOCL’s Panipat Refinery in Haryana, India, aligning with IOCL’s ambitious plan to bolster the refinery’s capacity from 15 to 25 MMTPA.
Scheduled for a completion timeline of 18 months, the IOCL Panipat Refinery project marks Nuberg EPC’s inaugural venture into the propylene purification domain, underscoring its prowess to handle intricate ventures in the expansive oil and gas arena. What sets this Propylene Purification Package apart is its skid-mounted or modular design, ensuring streamlined installation and operation. Leveraging both regenerative and sacrificial adsorbent methodologies, Nuberg EPC aims to extract pure propylene from refinery off-gases. The resulting propylene is slated for polymer production, catering to diverse sectors, from textiles and packaging to automotive.

This collaboration is not a first; in fact, it is the fourth occasion where Nuberg EPC has aligned with IOCL domestically, reflecting a robust alliance and acumen in the hydrocarbon industry. Beyond this, Nuberg EPC is steering projects that resonate with IOCL’s sustainable vision, including pioneering India’s hydrogen fuel station, a bio-ethanol facility, and a sulfur retrieval unit across different locales.
Reflecting on this collaboration, AK Tyagi, Nuberg EPC’s CMD, shared, “Teaming up with IOCL on this significant venture reaffirms our position in offering unparalleled EPC solutions in the hydrocarbon sector. We pledge to uphold stringent standards across quality, safety, and operational efficiency.”
Entrusted with a comprehensive project scope, Nuberg EPC is overseeing the conceptualization, fabrication, validation, delivery, and on-site assembly and testing of the Propylene Purification Package, replete with integral components such as compressors, pressure vessels, and more. Notably, the equipment will hail from Nuberg EPC’s dedicated manufacturing hub in Gujarat.
With a track record of international project successes, Nuberg EPC has fortified its reputation as a global EPC magnate, especially in sectors like Chemicals, Hydrocarbon, and Steel. Upholding a global corporate ethos, the firm continually ventures into pioneering technologies and methodologies, with recent forays into innovative domains like Green Hydrogen, Water Electrolysis, and Next-Gen Nutrients.
