NTPC is poised to inaugurate the commercial operations of the second unit of its North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project on March 20th, marking a significant milestone in its power generation endeavors. This latest addition, Unit 2, boasting a capacity of 660 MW, enhances the existing setup of the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power (STPP) project, which already comprises three units of 660 MW each.
Located in the Chatra district of Jharkhand, the North Karanpura STPP project operates as a coal-based power plant. In an official statement filed with the stock exchange, NTPC confirmed that commercial operations for Unit 2 will commence at midnight on March 20, 2024. This development signifies a notable advancement in the company’s power generation capabilities, contributing to the expansion of its standalone and group commercial capacity.
With the integration of Unit 2, NTPC’s standalone commercial capacity is set to rise to 59,298 MW, while the group commercial capacity will elevate to 75,418 MW.
