NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd., emerged as a top bidder in the e-reverse auction organized by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL). The auction, held on January 3, 2025, focused on selecting solar power developers for a 2000 MW ISTS-connected Solar PV Power Project under a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
NTPC REL successfully won a capacity of 1000 MW with a bid of ₹2.56 per kWh and is now awaiting the Letter of Award (LOA) from UPPCL. Recently, the company announced the commencement of commercial operations for the initial phase of its 200 MW solar project in Gujarat.
On December 27, 2024, NTPC REL reported that 37.5 MW of the project in Sadla had been certified operational by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency as of December 26. This project was awarded under the GUVNL 500 MW Solar (Phase XI) tender and became commercially operational on December 21.
With this development, NTPC’s total installed and commercial capacity has risen to 76,598.18 MW, marking another step forward in the company’s renewable energy journey. NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NTPC GE) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd., India’s largest power generation company.
