NTPC Aims for 40 Million MT Coal Production in FY25

NTPC, the state-owned power giant, announced a bold new target: to achieve a coal production milestone of 40 million metric tonnes (MMT) from its captive mines for the fiscal year 2024-25. This ambitious goal represents a substantial 17 per cent year-on-year growth in captive coal production for the company, as highlighted in a recent statement by NTPC.

In its pursuit of this target, NTPC aims to meet over 15 per cent of its coal requirement through captive mines in FY25, significantly bolstering its fuel security. The company’s commitment to enhancing its coal production capabilities is evident in its achievement of a coal despatch of 34.15 MMT and a production figure of 34.38 MMT as of March 31, 2024.
