NORD gets patent for its Highly Integrated DuoDrive Geared Motor

Introduced as a revolutionary geared motor in hygienic wash-down, NORD’s recently patented DuoDriveGeared Motor comes as a special energy-efficient IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motor and single-stage helical gear unit, which are installed in one single housing.

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS, a global leader in Drive Technology has got a patent for its highly integrated DuoDrive Motor which was introduced a year ago. The completely new geared motor supports full integration of motor and gear unit in one housing which also safely accommodates the encoder, speed feedback, and brake. Achieving the optimum utilization of installation space, the compact DuoDrive is said to be more efficient than the already existing drive systems with IE5+ synchronous motor and bevel gear unit. 

The motor currently offers the highest system efficiency up to 92% and is proficient in the partial load range. The constant motor torque over a wide speed range allows for a consistent version reduction of operating costs. Also, the market compatible connection dimensions facilitate the replacement and the integration into the existing plant designs. The Patented DuoDrive motor is lightweight and compact with fewer interfaces which enhances the system’s efficiency. 

The first available DuoDrive size is capable of covering the gear unit speed ratios ranging from 3.24 to 16.2. Designed for the output torque ranges up to 80 Nm and speed up to 1,000 RPM, the patented motor comes with the minimum noise emission with the elimination of many wearing parts resulting in lower maintenance.
