NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) has achieved a major production milestone at its advanced facility. On August 20, the plant successfully produced 1 million tons (MnT) of Hot Rolled Coil (HRC), surpassing this target four days before the first anniversary of its HR Coil production launch. This accomplishment highlights NSL’s rapid growth and efficiency, bolstered by its cutting-edge technology and operational excellence.
Earlier in 2024, NSL reached significant production milestones, including 1.5 MnT of Hot Metal from its Blast Furnace on July 21 and 1 MnT of Liquid Steel from the Steel Making Shop (SMS) on August 11. Both achievements were realized within a year of starting production, setting new performance standards in the industry.
The state-of-the-art steel plant, with an investment of Rs. 22,900 crore, features one of the widest Hot Strip Mills in India, capable of rolling HR coils ranging from 900 mm to 1650 mm in width and 1 mm to 16 mm in thickness.
Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge) of NMDC & NSL, expressed pride in the early attainment of the 1 MnT HRC milestone, attributing the success to the dedication and hard work of the team. He emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining this momentum and leading the industry in quality and efficiency.
