India’s leading iron ore producer, NMDC, has launched its new overseas office in Dubai, marking a pivotal step in its global growth strategy. The inauguration was led by the HD Kumaraswamy, Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, alongside senior officials from the Indian Embassy, Ministry of Steel, and Indian industry leaders.
The new office will operate as NMDC’s global coordination center, monitoring developments in the mineral sectors across the Middle East, North Africa, Australia, and beyond. It will focus on identifying new resource opportunities, conducting technical and commercial assessments, and engaging with regulatory bodies, business partners, and research institutions.
With a focus on critical minerals and strategic assets, NMDC aims to expand its international footprint and strengthen India’s position in the global mineral supply chain. The Dubai base will also provide key market insights and facilitate quicker decision-making, enhancing the company’s ability to act on emerging opportunities.
Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC, said, “Dubai offers strategic access to global markets. This new office reinforces our ambition to play a more prominent role in the international mining arena and accelerate our mineral diversification efforts.”
The company is currently assessing acquisition targets across ten key mineral assets worldwide and is pursuing opportunities in Africa, Australia, and South America. Through this international expansion, NMDC aims to increase its presence in the global mining ecosystem and develop new avenues in Mining Equipment and Technology Services (METS). The Dubai office is expected to serve as a critical hub in NMDC’s long-term global strategy, improving responsiveness, strengthening partnerships, and positioning the company for sustained international growth.
