NMDC Limited, the country’s leading iron ore producer, observed the 11th International Day of Yoga with active participation across its offices and project sites. Senior leadership including Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director, along with Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical), and Joydeep Dasgupta, Director (Production), joined employees in the main event and emphasized the importance of integrating wellness into daily routines.
Aligned with this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” more than 500 employees and their families took part in guided yoga sessions aimed at promoting physical health and mental well-being. The theme underscores the link between individual wellness and the broader health of the planet, rooted in the Indian ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the idea that the world is one family.
The central session took place at NMDC’s corporate headquarters in Hyderabad, where certified instructors conducted morning sessions of yoga postures and breathing exercises. Simultaneous sessions were held at NMDC’s mining operations and regional offices, ensuring wide participation.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Mukherjee stated, “Yoga encourages clarity, resilience, and balance—qualities that support both personal growth and professional excellence. At NMDC, we believe that the well-being of our people directly contributes to the strength of our organisation.”
In support of long-term employee wellness, NMDC conducts daily 30-minute yoga sessions at its Hyderabad head office. This ongoing initiative reflects the company’s commitment to fostering a workplace culture focused on health, mindfulness, and productivity. NMDC views employee well-being as a key pillar in driving sustainable growth and national development.
