NMDC, India’s largest producer of iron ore, celebrated the 76th Republic Day with vibrant events at its Hyderabad Head Office and various mining locations across the country. Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge), hoisted the National Flag at the Head Office, joined by senior officials including Shri Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical), Shri B. Vishwanath, CVO, Smt. G Priyadarshini, CGM (Personnel & Administration), and other employees.
In his Republic Day speech, Shri Mukherjee highlighted the significance of the day, stating, “Republic Day symbolizes our democratic values and the responsibility we share, both as citizens and as an organization. NMDC has become a leader in growth, achieving a 9% increase in production and a 5% rise in sales over the previous year. As we approach the final quarter, we are poised to surpass the 45 million tonne target with confidence. Our record growth in revenue (20%) and profit after tax (23%) in Q2 FY25 sets new industry standards.”
He further underscored NMDC’s role in India’s development, adding, “Our vision goes beyond mining, demonstrated by the progress of NMDC Steel Limited and our expanded CSR initiative, Balika Shiksha Yojana, which now supports 85 tribal girls pursuing nursing education. At NMDC, we remain steadfast in our mission to contribute to the nation’s progress.”
To mark the occasion, NMDC organized the ‘Republic Day Run 2025’ at its projects in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, with NMDC’s brand ambassador and two-time World Champion boxer Nikhat Zareen participating in the run. Her involvement highlighted the importance of fitness and aligned with the ‘Fit India Movement,’ promoting overall well-being among employees and local communities. The celebrations also included indoor games and competitions such as Chess, Table Tennis, and Carrom, with winners honored during the ceremony, fostering teamwork and camaraderie.

Established in 1958, the company operates some of the most mechanized iron ore mines in the world, located primarily in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
