NMDC Celebrates 67 Years as India’s Premier Iron Ore Producer

NMDC recently marked its 67th Foundation Day, celebrating over six decades of leadership in India’s iron ore industry. Shri Sandeep Poundrik, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, visited the company’s headquarters to review its achievements and ongoing projects. Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge), briefed him on NMDC’s operational milestones, sustainability efforts, and future growth plans.

The celebration included the “CMD Excellence Award 2024” ceremony, attended by Shri Poundrik, Shri Mukherjee, and senior leaders such as Shri Vishwanath Suresh (Director, Commercial), Shri Vinay Kumar (Director, Technical), Shri Joydeep Dasgupta (Director, Production), and Shri B Vishwanath (CVO), along with employees and their families. The awards, introduced in 2023, recognized exceptional contributions under categories like Khanij Ratna, NMDC Ratna, and CMD Shields for Best Departments in Production, Sales, and Support.

Congratulating the team, Shri Amitava Mukherjee emphasized NMDC’s commitment to achieving new milestones. “The next six years must achieve what took 66 years to build. Our vision for 100 MnT production and diversification requires performance, innovation, and adherence to sustainability,” he said, pledging to uphold NMDC’s core values while contributing to India’s development goals.

Shri Sandeep Poundrik lauded NMDC’s efforts, saying, “Mining is a challenging sector, and the dedication of NMDC’s workforce is commendable. I wish the company success in reaching its 100 MnT target by 2030 and extend my congratulations to all award winners.” As it looks to the future, NMDC remains dedicated to driving innovation, operational excellence, and sustainability to support India’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
