The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) has launched an online survey to gather feedback from subject matter experts (SMEs) and educators on industry job roles in its new Interactive Standards Viewer (ISV) platform. The ISV platform is part of NIMS’ Smart Training Solutions framework, which provides employers and educators with a repository of industry-recognized job roles for on-the-job (OJT) training programs.

By taking the survey, SMEs and educators can ensure that the job roles included in the ISV platform are agreed-upon and industry-recognized standards. The survey is quick and easy to complete, and SMEs can provide feedback on one or more job roles they are experts. You can take part in the survey by clicking this link – https://sts.nims-skills.org/sts/public/standards

The survey can be accessed on NIMS’ website, and SMEs need to choose from the display of Smart Standards to see various job roles within that particular industry or area. After selecting a job role, a list of duties associated with that role will appear, and SMEs can then start the survey by clicking on the “Survey Me” button in the top right-hand corner of the page.

“The purpose of the surveys is to ensure our Smart Standards are aligned to industry and to connect employers and educators,” said Montez King, executive director of NIMS. “It’s a terrific way to give back to the industry, plus it’s also satisfying to have a say in this critical issue facing all of us in manufacturing. Everyone’s survey data is kept strictly confidential, and only the location of the organization the SMEs represent will be shared with our network. I, along with everyone in the industry, thank you!”
