Nidec-Shimpo has introduced adopter-combined gear-head types to its FLEXWAVE series of precision control reducers, which are currently available for purchase. Nidec-Shimpo has shipped more than one million units of their FLEXWAVE precision control reducers for robots and machine tools since they were introduced in June 2015. These reducers are utilized in various applications, such as robots, semiconductor production equipment, and artificial satellites. As of October 2022, the company has achieved this milestone. This announcement was made by the company.

Nidec-Shimpo, one of the leading manufacturers of industrial machines, has launched a new line of FLEXWAVE precision control reducers. These reducers are designed for use in robots, artificial satellites, and semiconductor production equipment, and have proven to be highly effective since their initial launch in June 2015. As of October 2022, Nidec-Shimpo has shipped over one million units of these reducers, making them one of the most widely used products in their industry.
Previously, FLEXWAVE reducers were sold as individual or assembly components, requiring the user to prepare additional components to install in a commercially available servo motor. However, Nidec-Shimpo’s latest gearhead types include adopters that can be easily attached to a servo motor of any dimension without the need for additional components. The input shafts of the gearhead types use the friction fastening method, allowing for easy installation.
The new gear-head types were developed in response to customers’ needs for an easy-to-install solution similar to Nidec-Shimpo’s existing able reducers (planetary gear reducers). By combining the design technology used for able reducers with the FLEXWAVE reducers, Nidec-Shimpo has created a highly versatile product that minimizes the need for additional components and can be easily installed in any servo motor.
Nidec-Shimpo remains committed to providing high-efficiency industrial machines to a wide variety of business fields. By utilizing the company’s extensive know-how from its reducer and continuously variable transmission businesses, Nidec-Shimpo continues to make significant contributions to various markets.
