NHPC Ltd, a state-owned entity, announced on Friday, March 15, that it successfully secured the bid to construct a 200 MW solar power project in Gujarat. The project will be located in the 1,125 MW RE Park of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL) at Khavda in Kachchh district.
NHPC estimates that the project will generate approximately 473 million units of electricity in its first year of operation. Over a 25-year period, the cumulative energy generation is projected to reach about 10,850 million units. The company will execute the project under a build-own-and-operate framework, with an estimated development cost of ₹847 crore.
The e-reverse auction for the project was overseen by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd on March 2, 2024, and the letter of intent was issued by the same entity on March 14, 2024. NHPC secured the project at a tariff of ₹2.66 per unit and aims to complete it within 18 months.
