A global investment consortium spearheaded by Nexus Core Systems, with support from Lloyds Capital, NAVER Cloud, and Maroc Telecom, has announced plans to establish a cutting-edge AI infrastructure hub in Morocco. This initiative will transform key sectors in Morocco as the country advances into the AI and robotics era. With a strategic location just 15 kilometers from Europe and connected by multiple subsea fiber routes, Morocco offers a unique geographical advantage for delivering sovereign AI compute power to the European market.
In partnership with Nexus Core Systems and Lloyds Capital, NAVER Cloud will provide secure, sovereign access to AI compute for both government and enterprise clients. The data centers will be built using modular infrastructure, enabling quick deployment, scalable growth, and efficient maintenance with minimal on-site risks.
The first phase of the project is set to launch in Q1 2026, featuring over 40 MW of next-generation AI accelerators designed for large-scale model training. Upon completion, it will become one of the largest enterprise AI supercomputers in the region. The full program will operate on up to 500 MW of renewable energy, thanks to a strategic agreement with TAQA Morocco, ensuring sustainable and cost-effective long-term operations.
NAVER Cloud, in collaboration with Nexus Core Systems, will integrate its proprietary hyperscale cloud platform, featuring CLOVA AI, zero-trust security, and local data residency controls to ensure compliance with strict data sovereignty regulations across EMEA.
Maroc Telecom will play a key role in bringing the platform to market in Morocco, leading the commercial efforts across government and enterprise sectors. The company will utilize a white-labeled platform, powered by Nexus’s infrastructure and NAVER’s AI technology, to support national AI adoption and accelerate Morocco’s digital transformation.
“This collaboration marks a significant expansion for NAVER’s cloud and AI technologies beyond Japan, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, into the European market. We aim to further strengthen our capabilities to secure a leadership position in the evolving global AI landscape,” said Chae Seon Ju, President of Strategic Business at NAVER.
Christopher Yoshida, CEO of Nexus Core Systems, added, “Investing in state-of-the-art AI infrastructure is a vital step in accelerating AI development across EMEA. This initiative will create valuable opportunities for upskilling, foster new collaborations, and establish Morocco as a leading hub for sovereign AI.”
This partnership will drive the next generation of AI-powered services and innovations, including foundation model training, multimodal inference, robotics, autonomous learning, and high-performance data processing. By combining Nexus’s infrastructure with NAVER’s AI platform, the system will support the deployment of advanced AI models that improve performance, unlock new efficiencies, and transform enterprise use cases across the region. The architecture of the system will adhere to globally recognized AI infrastructure standards developed with the help of leading ecosystem partners.
