Nextracker has announced that it has crossed the 10 GW mark for solar tracker deployments in India. To accommodate the growing demand, the company has opened a new 80,000 sq ft office and research and development (R&D) center in Hyderabad.
With 1.8 GW of projects added just in the last quarter, Nextracker’s portfolio in India now exceeds 10 GW. Some of its latest projects include a 305 MW development in Anantapur with ReNew and 1.5 GW of collaborations with leading EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) companies across the country.
Speaking about the partnership on the Anantapur project, Sanjay Varghese, Group President of Solar Projects & Manufacturing at ReNew, stated, “We are pleased to have Nextracker as a partner on our solar projects. As we continue to expand in renewable energy, these partnerships help enhance project efficiency and support the sector’s long-term goals.”
Nextracker’s new facility in Hyderabad is now its largest office outside the United States. This hub combines R&D, testing, and workforce development in a single location, featuring a 13-acre Center for Solar Excellence (CFSE) dedicated to advancing solar technology and workforce training. With a $1 million investment, CFSE aims to push forward innovations in solar solutions within India.
Building on a team of over 400 employees in India, Nextracker is increasing recruitment in engineering, manufacturing, and customer support roles. The Hyderabad site will also focus on initiatives that develop local expertise in cutting-edge solar technology and project implementation.
In line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative, 95% of Nextracker’s solar tracker components for Indian projects are manufactured locally. This approach strengthens supply chain resilience, enhances energy security, and drives technology localization, providing climate-smart solutions designed for India’s energy landscape.
Rajeev Kashyap, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Nextracker in the Middle East, Africa, and India, commented, “This region is one of the fastest-growing solar markets globally, and our expansion in Hyderabad underscores our commitment to supporting that growth. With 10 GW of projects either completed or in progress, we are equipping developers with advanced technology suited for India’s diverse needs, while investing in local talent, infrastructure, and innovation to help meet the country’s renewable energy targets.”
Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), added, “Nextracker’s investment in advanced manufacturing is not just a major milestone for the company but also a key moment for India’s renewable energy sector. By localizing the production of intelligent solar tracking systems and integrating automation with local expertise, Nextracker is making a significant contribution to India’s vision of an AtmaNirbhar Bharat in the renewable energy space.”
