Nexteer Automotive has introduced three new driveline innovations tailored to meet the growing needs of electric vehicles and deliver a refined driving experience across all powertrain types. These technologies prioritize long-lasting performance, reduced noise and vibration, and weight efficiency.

The launch includes enhancements like the optimized Face Spline Axle, a redesigned 8-Ball Joint, and an upgraded Premium Double Offset Joint. The company has introduced new advancements in its drivetrain component offerings, including an expanded range of Cross-Glide Joints. These new size options are aimed at widening the scope of applications, especially in rear axle setups that demand compact design, low vibration, and high torque handling.

Among the latest technologies is the Face Spline Axle, a patented solution developed for seamless integration with existing hub assemblies. This design not only improves noise reduction but also helps reduce overall vehicle weight, contributing to enhanced fuel efficiency and performance.

Another key innovation is the 8-Ball Joint, which delivers more than a 10% weight reduction compared to conventional 6-ball joints. Despite the lighter construction, it retains high structural integrity thanks to a redesigned architecture that prioritizes strength and durability.

The Premium Double Offset Joint has also been upgraded with a new manufacturing technique that improves dimensional accuracy. This results in smoother acceleration and a quieter ride, particularly under high-stress driving conditions, offering both performance and comfort benefits.

These driveline solutions are compatible with all vehicle propulsion types, including internal combustion, hybrid, and battery-electric models. They’re particularly valuable for EVs, where higher torque and reduced cabin noise are critical. Nexteer’s products are built to handle the stress of modern drivetrains, offering global validation, robust durability, and flexible packaging for various vehicle layouts.

Robin Milavec, President and CTO of Nexteer Automotive, highlighted that these new offerings address the unique demands of electric vehicles — from space limitations to noise sensitivity — while maintaining a high-quality driving experience for all platforms.

With a global engineering and manufacturing footprint, Nexteer supports its customers with deep expertise in motion control technologies. These driveline advancements will be showcased at Auto Shanghai 2025, alongside other innovations like rear-wheel steering, steer-by-wire, and electro-mechanical braking systems. Serving more than 60 global OEMs, including major brands across North America, Europe, China, and India, Nexteer continues to shape the future of vehicle motion with cutting-edge solutions.
