Nexteer Automotive has officially launched construction of a new state-of-the-art production site in Liuzhou, China. This development represents a major step in the company’s growth strategy within the Asia-Pacific region, reinforcing its strong presence in the steering systems market and supporting increased demand from both domestic and international vehicle manufacturers.
Driven by rising business volume and product diversification in APAC, Nexteer is expanding its capabilities through greater production capacity and a more integrated supply chain. The upcoming facility is designed to manufacture critical components internally while enabling seamless collaboration with key suppliers. A co-located supplier zone within the complex will support real-time innovation and improve overall efficiency and responsiveness.
This new site will boost Nexteer’s ability to meet increasing demand for advanced steering and motion control products, such as Column-Assist Electric Power Steering (CEPS) systems and Modular Power Packs. These systems offer enhanced safety, ease of service, and better adaptability for next-generation vehicle platforms.
The project involves relocating Nexteer’s existing Liuzhou operations to the new facility, which will span over 40,000 square meters. The site will feature modern laboratories, test tracks, and an employee center. The transition is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
“Our Liuzhou operations have a decade-long legacy and have produced over 10 million steering systems to date,” said Jun Li, Global Vice President and President of Nexteer’s APAC Division. “This expansion will help us scale production and better serve our customers throughout China and the broader region. Our Motion-by-Wire™ technologies are designed to deliver high levels of safety, control, and integration—meeting the demands of intelligent mobility. With this investment, we’re further strengthening our capabilities in smart, sustainable manufacturing.”
The facility is being built in line with green building and smart factory principles. It will feature energy-efficient systems and advanced automation to meet local sustainability goals and reduce environmental impact—supporting Nexteer’s commitment to responsible growth and innovation. The new plant will work closely with Nexteer’s APAC Technical Center in Suzhou and will be a key contributor to the company’s global manufacturing network, which spans all major automotive markets.
“Nexteer’s success in China is grounded in a global mindset paired with deep local expertise,” said Robin Milavec, President, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and Executive Board Director. “We understand the fast-evolving demands of the APAC region while delivering the highest standards of quality and safety required by global automakers. This dual focus strengthens our leadership and advances our mission to make mobility safer, cleaner, and more exciting.”
