Nelco Limited, a Tata Group company and one of India’s leading satellite communication service providers, has announced a strategic partnership and investment in Lunar Holdco, Inc, operating as Elveo Mobile. The partnership will bring next-generation Direct-to-Device (D2D) satellite connectivity and satellite-based computing capabilities to enterprise customers in India and South Asian markets.

Under the agreement, Nelco will work with Elveo to provide satellite connectivity directly to devices across sectors such as automotive, maritime, energy and government. The companies will also work with enterprises to integrate Elveo’s connectivity solutions into existing platforms and applications.

The partnership is aimed at addressing connectivity gaps in areas where conventional terrestrial networks may have limited reach. Potential applications include automotive telematics, fleet and asset tracking, infrastructure monitoring, remote operations, disaster response and business continuity.

Elveo’s satellite network is designed to provide direct connectivity to smartphones, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and machines. Its satellite architecture includes onboard processing capabilities that are intended to support changing customer requirements and enable the network to adapt as demand grows.

P J Nath, Managing Director and CEO of Nelco, said D2D connectivity represents an important growth opportunity for the satellite communications industry. He said the partnership with Elveo would allow Nelco to introduce advanced satellite capabilities to customers in India and other South Asian markets. Mr Nath added that Elveo’s satellite technology and onboard processing capabilities would help Nelco develop new enterprise applications while expanding its connectivity offerings.

Ramu Potarazu, CEO of Elveo, said the partnership would support the company’s plans to expand D2D and IoT connectivity in India. He added that Elveo also expects to explore opportunities to work with other Tata Group companies across international markets. Adel Al-Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of SES and a strategic investor in Elveo, welcomed Nelco to the Elveo partner ecosystem and said the collaboration could support the next phase of global satellite connectivity.

Nelco provides satellite communication services across enterprise, government, defence, maritime and aviation markets. Its network supports customers operating across diverse geographical locations, including Indian land, waters and airspace. Elveo Mobile is a Delaware-based satellite communications company developing a next-generation global S-band non-geostationary satellite orbit network focused on D2D services. The company aims to provide always-on connectivity for mobile network operators, enterprises, government agencies and humanitarian organizations.
