The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Indian Ports Association (IPA) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate digital transformation in India’s maritime industry. This collaboration aims to integrate NeGD’s technical proficiency with IPA’s extensive knowledge of the maritime and logistics sectors, both domestically and globally.

The partnership will focus on modernizing port operations, streamlining logistics, and enhancing operational efficiency by adopting advanced technologies, developing innovative software solutions, and building capacity across the industry. The initiative seeks to address key challenges such as fragmented logistics systems, outdated practices, and inadequate digital infrastructure in ports and shipping.

With this agreement, NeGD and IPA envision an interconnected network of ports utilizing real-time data and analytics to optimize operations, reduce turnaround times, and improve supply chain efficiency. This strategic step aligns with India’s broader goal of becoming a global leader in the digital transformation of maritime operations.
