On National Youth Day, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s leading aluminium producer, reaffirmed its dedication to empowering the nation’s youth. The company has launched several initiatives aimed at fostering youth development, including support for the Government of India’s Prime Minister’s (PM) Internship Scheme, as well as social impact projects to provide rural youth with more opportunities for advancement.
As part of the PM Internship Scheme, Vedanta Aluminium is offering students a chance to gain valuable hands-on experience in its vast industrial operations. Currently, 18 interns are engaged at the company’s Jharsuguda facility in Odisha, home to the world’s largest aluminium plant, while another 4 interns have joined operations at Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO) in Korba, Chhattisgarh.
These state-of-the-art plants expose interns to cutting-edge technologies and best industry practices, providing them with a unique insight into modern manufacturing. The interns are actively contributing to key projects in areas such as operations, sustainability, and digital innovation, refining their practical skills and preparing for leadership roles.
Sonali Dash, a participant in the PM Internship Scheme, shared, “The internship at Vedanta Aluminium has been a highly enriching experience. It allowed me to work on sustainability-driven projects and gain a deeper understanding of industry needs, which will be essential in building my career.”
Fellow intern Ujjal Patra added, “My time at Vedanta Aluminium has been a great learning opportunity. Participating in live industrial projects has allowed me to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications while improving my technical and problem-solving abilities.”
