The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in collaboration with Anmol Sahara, has launched a 21-day Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) for 60 women belonging to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in North Delhi and Outer North Delhi. The programme commenced on October 12, 2026, and is being conducted simultaneously at two training centres in Azadpur and Tikri. It aims to equip participants with practical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge to help them establish income-generating activities and develop sustainable livelihoods.
The women will receive training in making cow dung-based products, candles and festive handicrafts. The programme is designed to help participants develop products that can be sold in local markets and used to establish or expand small businesses. Along with product-making skills, the training will cover packaging, pricing, digital marketing and sales techniques. Participants will also receive support in establishing market linkages, including access to exhibitions and corporate buyers. These measures are intended to help women identify potential customers, improve product presentation and expand their sales opportunities.
The programme is expected to help participants explore self-employment and micro-enterprise opportunities, including products that may see higher demand during the festive season. By combining practical training with market-oriented guidance, the initiative seeks to help women generate additional income and strengthen their financial independence.
A NABARD official said the organisation remained committed to promoting sustainable livelihoods and women’s economic empowerment through skill development initiatives. The official added that the programme was designed to equip SHG members with practical skills, entrepreneurial capabilities and market knowledge to help them establish viable enterprises and improve their incomes.
Representatives of Anmol Sahara said the organisation aimed to help SHG women become economically independent. They added that NABARD’s support would enable participants in Azadpur and Tikri to gain skills and explore sustainable livelihood opportunities.
NABARD has been supporting livelihood promotion, skill development and enterprise creation as part of its efforts to strengthen the Self-Help Group movement and promote inclusive development. Through programmes such as LEDP, the institution seeks to help SHG members build income-generating activities and establish women-led enterprises.
The initiative also seeks to address challenges faced by small entrepreneurs, particularly in developing market access and translating production skills into viable businesses. Training in pricing, packaging and marketing is intended to help participants understand the commercial aspects of running a micro-enterprise.
By bringing together skill development and market linkages, the programme aims to support grassroots entrepreneurship among women in Delhi. The 21-day initiative will provide participants with an opportunity to develop new skills, assess business prospects and explore ways to turn their products into a source of regular income.
