Musashi India, the Indian arm of Japan-based Musashi Seimitsu Industries, has inaugurated the Musashi Technology Excellence Centre (MTEC) in Bengaluru on July 29. This milestone comes as the company completes 23 years of its operations in India.

Located at the Atria University Campus, the new centre involves an initial investment of ₹100 million and is dedicated to developing energy storage systems and electric mobility technologies tailored to Indian conditions. The facility will play a crucial role in testing and validating technologies developed by Musashi’s global teams, in coordination with international partners and suppliers. MTEC will also support rapid prototyping and localization of solutions, with expansion plans for both infrastructure and human resources over time.

Naoya Nishimura, CEO of Musashi India and Africa Region, reflected on the company’s journey from serving a single customer in 2002 to becoming a key supplier to major automotive OEMs across India. He stressed that the new centre will enhance local R&D capabilities while staying aligned with customer needs.

The centre will focus on developing advanced energy storage technologies specifically designed for Indian applications. It is also expected to attract high-level talent in fields such as electrochemistry and data science, boosting Musashi’s research footprint in the region.

Masaru Maeda, Chief E-Mobility Officer at Musashi Seimitsu Industries, highlighted this initiative as a major advancement in the group’s global electric mobility roadmap. He pointed out India’s growing relevance in the e-mobility space and the centre’s role in serving both domestic and global requirements.

This initiative also aligns with India’s broader climate targets, including its Net Zero 2030 ambitions, while tapping into the country’s manufacturing and supply chain strengths. Musashi India will combine its expertise in automotive production with Musashi Energy Solutions’ capabilities in hybrid supercapacitors to drive innovation.
