Taiwan-based laptop manufacturer MSI has officially started its production operations in India, setting up its first facility in Chennai. Aligning with the “Make in India” initiative, MSI will initially roll out locally-produced versions of its MSI Modern 14 and MSI Thin 15 laptops.
The company highlighted India’s rapid growth as one of its key markets and emphasized its commitment to supporting the country’s technology ecosystem by providing high-performance, globally-standard laptops manufactured locally. To make its products more accessible, MSI is expanding its presence in India through additional touchpoints, including branded stores and partnerships with retailers such as Croma and Reliance Retail.
The locally-produced MSI Thin series and Modern series laptops will have starting prices of ₹73,990 and ₹52,990, respectively. The company also revealed plans to launch more advanced configurations of the Thin series to cater to the varied requirements of Indian consumers.
John Hung, NB General Manager of MSI India, stated that India’s increasing demand for performance-driven laptops has been central to this move. He expressed optimism that local manufacturing would not only strengthen MSI’s position in the Indian market but also enhance operational efficiency while supporting the country’s technology leadership on a global scale.
