The Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) has signed an Expression of Interest with Italy-based MIR Group SRL SB to set up an advanced facility for producing sustainable and energy-efficient building materials, officials confirmed on Friday. This cutting-edge facility will focus on producing BIPV panels, thermal insulation products, sodium-ion batteries, and insulated doors and windows. It will also offer energy-efficient design consultancy and retrofitting services.
MIR Group, a global leader in eco-friendly urban development and construction, has committed ₹1,500 crore for the project, which will be developed in phases on a 10-acre site within MSEZ, subject to regulatory clearances. Captain Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada, emphasized his “Back to Uru” campaign at the event, encouraging local entrepreneurs to invest in Mangaluru to drive regional development.
