Bhopal is set to take a significant step forward in its journey toward becoming a technology and manufacturing hub, with the Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, approving the establishment of a new Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) at Bandikhedi.

The project will be developed across 210 acres of land, with an overall investment of ₹371.95 crore. Of this, ₹146.63 crore will be contributed by the Central government, while the Madhya Pradesh government will contribute ₹225.32 crore. This initiative will make the Bandikhedi cluster the second electronics manufacturing cluster in Bhopal, reinforcing the city’s growing role in India’s digital economy.

The cluster is expected to provide world-class infrastructure, supported by Common Facility Centres (CFCs) that will serve industries across the electronics value chain. These facilities are designed to strengthen India’s Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem, a sector that has been gaining policy momentum under both the Make in India and Digital India schemes. While Make in India focuses on positioning the country as a global manufacturing powerhouse, Digital India is aimed at creating a digitally connected and innovation-driven economy. The Bandikhedi cluster brings the two goals together, providing a foundation for high-tech electronics production alongside research and development support.

Industry participation has already begun to take shape. Sanjay Dubey, Chairman of MP State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSeDC), announced that Emerald Infraispats Ltd., a Delhi-based firm, will serve as the Anchor Unit under the recently launched MP Semiconductor Policy 2025. The presence of an anchor unit is expected to draw in more private players and encourage smaller companies and startups to set up operations within the cluster.

Officials believe the project will attract fresh investments and create large-scale employment opportunities in the region. The new cluster is also expected to boost entrepreneurship, open avenues for startups, and add significantly to state revenues. At the same time, it will create an environment for innovation in emerging technologies, ranging from consumer electronics to advanced semiconductor applications.

With the Cabinet’s approval, the Bandikhedi EMC is no longer just an infrastructure project—it represents Madhya Pradesh’s intent to claim a prominent spot on the global technology map. By aligning industrial expansion with national policy priorities, Bhopal is steadily evolving into one of India’s rising hubs for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
