Montra Electric, a prominent division of the Murugappa Group, has unveiled an exciting new venture: the Montra Electric Super League (MSL). This innovative event, co-powered by Chola Finance, is set to bring the thrilling atmosphere of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the streets with a unique twist. Featuring a competition among 10 enthusiastic teams, each team comprises 17 dedicated auto drivers, also known as Super Auto Riders.
The MSL is designed to address and alleviate common concerns about electric vehicle (EV) range anxiety by encouraging participants to cover significant distances throughout the day, utilizing top-up charging stations along their route.
This ground-breaking tournament showcases a total of 170 Super Riders from across India, including a notable number of women auto drivers, who will form 10 teams to compete in a bid to cover the greatest distance. The competition is structured around the principle that the team which logs the most kilometers in a single day will be declared the winner.
This ambitious challenge is set to demonstrate the remarkable capability of EVs to exceed 300 kilometers on a single charge. Aman Sharma, President & Business Head – Vehicle Finance at Chola Finance, highlighted the company’s commitment to this initiative, stating, “Chola is also actively working on innovative financing solutions for customers, aiming to simplify the process of owning a Montra Electric Super Auto.”
This statement underscores Chola Finance’s dedication to facilitating access to electric vehicles through tailored financial solutions. In the MSL, every kilometer driven by the top 14 riders of each team is converted into one run, with additional runs awarded for referrals leading to deliveries or live bookings, as well as for high-quality customer testimonial videos.
The competition progresses through a series of matches, with teams accumulating points and runs. The path to victory involves advancing through quarter-finals, semi-finals, and ultimately culminating in a grand finale. In a gesture of significant social impact, Chola Finance has pledged to provide free education for life to the children of up to 68 Super Riders who reach the final stages of the tournament.
This commitment illustrates the tournament’s broader mission of enhancing the lives of these dedicated individuals. The Montra Electric Super League kicked off on July 5 and is slated to conclude with a grand finale during the first week of September. The culmination of this exhilarating event will be celebrated at a special ceremony hosted at the Montra Electric factory in Chennai.
