MOIL Limited has reported its highest-ever manganese ore production for the month of July, reaching 1.45 lakh tonnes—a year-on-year increase of 11.4% compared to July last year. This achievement comes despite operational challenges posed by heavy monsoon rains.

In the first four months of the current financial year (April–July 2025), the company demonstrated strong operational performance, with notable growth across several key metrics. Total production reached 6.47 lakh tonnes, representing a 7.8% increase compared to the same period last year. This consistent rise underscores the company’s enhanced efficiency and output capabilities.

Sales performance was equally impressive, with volumes climbing to 5.01 lakh tonnes. This marks a significant year-on-year increase of 10.7%, reflecting strong demand and effective market outreach. The growth in sales volume signals the company’s robust position in the market and its ability to meet rising customer needs.

In terms of exploration, the company also saw an uptick in activity. Exploratory drilling totaled 43,215 meters during the April–July period, an 11.4% increase from the previous year. This expansion highlights the company’s continued commitment to resource development and long-term growth strategies.

Chairman and Managing Director Ajit Kumar Saxena commended the team for achieving these results under tough weather conditions, applauding their commitment to maintaining growth in both production and sales. “The team’s performance reflects our resilience and determination to grow, even in the face of operational difficulties,” Shri Saxena noted.

MOIL continues to focus on enhancing productivity and expanding exploration efforts to strengthen its position in India’s manganese mining sector. MOIL Limited (formerly Manganese Ore (India) Ltd), established in 1962 and headquartered in Nagpur, is India’s largest producer of manganese ore, contributing nearly half of the country’s total output.

A government “Miniratna Category‑I” company under the Ministry of Steel, MOIL operates around 10–11 mines across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, including major underground operations and the prominent Balaghat Mine, now over 380 meters deep. The company markets several manganese grades—high-grade for ferro-manganese, medium-grade for silico-manganese, blast-furnace type for hot metal, and manganese dioxide used in battery cells and fertilizers—meeting nearly half of India’s domestic demand for dioxide ore.

MOIL is actively expanding its footprint, investing in exploratory drilling and resource development both within its existing leases and in new states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. It is also exploring lithium and other critical minerals as part of future diversification plans.

The company boasts facilities like a 1,500‑TPA electrolytic manganese dioxide plant and a 12,000‑TPA ferro‑manganese plant, supplemented by captive wind energy farms in Madhya Pradesh to support its focus on renewable power integration.

Financially, MOIL has seen steady growth in recent years. For example, in FY 2024–25 it reported record drilling figures (over 107,000 meters), increased its manganese ore output to around 18 lakh tonnes, and delivered strong earnings growth and consistent dividends to shareholders. Driven by its operational excellence, growing production base, resources expansion, and green energy initiatives, MOIL remains a leading player in India’s mining sector with ambitions to double its manganese output by 2030.
