Infosys (NSE, BSE, NYSE: INFY) announced that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has joined HIPUS, a joint venture led by Infosys in Japan, by acquiring a 2% stake. This move strengthens Infosys’ presence in the Japanese market and deepens its ongoing relationship with MHI — a global industrial company involved in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, aerospace, and defense.

HIPUS was established in 2019 with Infosys as the majority shareholder. The company focuses on transforming procurement functions for Japanese businesses by offering end-to-end sourcing solutions and category expertise, supported by modern digital tools and platforms. MHI, already a key client of HIPUS, has expanded its collaboration by investing in the venture to explore new business opportunities and drive improvements in its procurement processes.

Anantha Radhakrishnan, CEO and Managing Director of Infosys BPM and Chairperson of HIPUS, said, “Japan continues to be a key market for us. This partnership with MHI is a step forward in building deeper relationships and helping customers modernize their business operations.”

Isao Miyake, Head of Value Chain Headquarters at MHI, added, “We are working to improve our procurement systems using data and digital tools. HIPUS brings strong capabilities in analytics and process support that can help us make better decisions and create more value across the company.”

Kiyoshi Asami, CEO and Representative Director at HIPUS, commented, “MHI is already a significant client and we are delivering services beyond Japan by leveraging Infosys’ global reach. We are pleased to welcome MHI as an investor and look forward to expanding our work together.”

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of FY26, ending June 30, 2025, subject to standard regulatory approvals.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is one of the world’s leading industrial groups, offering products and services in energy, smart infrastructure, heavy machinery, aerospace, and defense.
