In response to the growing global demand for lithium batteries, Minebea Intec is equipping BYD’s 30,000-ton lithium carbonate project in Nanning, China, with advanced weighing solutions. The installation of PR 6212 load cells and PR 6012 mounting kits ensures precise dosing, quality control, and safety in the production process.
Lithium carbonate thickening is a critical stage in battery-grade production, requiring high accuracy for dosing additives and maintaining product quality. Minebea Intec customized a solution for BYD, installing four PR 6212 load cells and PR 6012 mounting kits under each thickener vessel.
Signals from the load cells are processed by the X2 weight indicator and integrated into the DCS system, enabling automated control of material handling. Unlike standard static scales, vessel weighing faces challenges such as stirring-induced horizontal forces and temperature fluctuations.
Minebea Intec’s PR 6012 mounting kits counteract these forces with integrated constrainers, ensuring stable and precise measurements. Additionally, the PR 6212 load cells operate reliably in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 95°C, making them suitable for outdoor installations subject to seasonal variations.
Safety and reliability are paramount in chemical production environments. Minebea Intec’s compact load cells offer lift-off protection up to 45 kN, mitigating risks from wind and vibrations. Manufactured from corrosion-resistant 1.4418 stainless steel, the PR 6212 load cells withstand harsh environments, including chemical exposure and high humidity. Innovative features like inverted installation and sloped surfaces further enhance durability, extending product lifespan.
“We trust Minebea Intec’s products for their quality, reliability, and safety,” said Gao Yuhong, R&D Engineer at BYD. Minebea Intec’s advanced weighing solutions are helping BYD set new benchmarks in lithium battery production, supporting the global transition to green energy.
