Minda Corporation Limited Wins National Award for Disability Empowerment

Minda Corporation Limited has received the President’s National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities 2024 in the category “Divyangjano Ke Liye Sarvashrestha Niyokta” (Best Employer for Persons with Disabilities). The award was conferred by President Droupadi Murmu during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

This accolade recognizes the impactful work of Spark Minda Foundation, a branch of Minda Corporation Limited, through its flagship initiative, Saksham. Since its inception in 2015, Saksham has supported over 21,000 individuals with disabilities (PwDs), addressing their needs in mobility, education, employment, and empowerment. Over 1,200 PwDs are currently employed at various Spark Minda Group facilities.

To provide continuous support, Spark Minda Foundation has set up permanent centers in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. These centers offer skill training, livelihood support, and assistive aids for PwDs. The foundation also organizes annual camps in states like Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, extending its reach and impact.

Through collaborations with more than 35 government agencies, NGOs, and organizations, the foundation has enhanced skill development and employment opportunities for PwDs nationwide. Assistive devices such as prosthetics, walkers, crutches, and wheelchairs are also distributed to enhance independence and mobility.

Sarika Minda, Chairperson of Spark Minda Foundation, remarked that the award underscores the organization’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and empowering persons with disabilities. This recognition adds to Minda Corporation’s history of accolades from organizations such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards.
