Minda Corporation, a leading automotive component manufacturer and the flagship company of Spark Minda, announced on Wednesday that it has signed a technology licensing agreement with China-based Sanco Connecting Technology. This partnership aims to expand Minda’s product offerings in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, specifically in electrical distribution systems.
Sanco Connecting Technology, a prominent player in EV connection systems, will collaborate with Minda Corporation to locally develop various EV components. These include EV connecting systems, charging gun assemblies with sockets and accessories, bus bars, cell contact systems, power distribution units (PDU), and battery distribution units (BDU), according to Minda’s filing with stock exchanges.
Aakash Minda, Executive Director of Minda Corporation, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to providing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions for the expanding EV industry. By introducing advanced EV solutions, we aim to increase the overall value across vehicle segments, while also focusing on successful localization to deliver greater value to our customers.”
He also highlighted that the agreement will bolster it’s wiring harness division, enhancing its vertical integration capabilities and solidifying its role as a key player in the EV supply chain. Zhijian Zeng, Chairman of Sanco Connecting Technology (Guangdong), commented on the partnership’s impact on Sanco’s presence in India. “This collaboration will significantly strengthen Sanco’s footprint in India’s rapidly growing EV market. By leveraging it’s strong relationships with global automakers and its extensive local production and engineering expertise, we are confident in our ability to provide world-class, technology-driven solutions to Indian original equipment manufacturers,” Zeng said.
