MIC Electronics Limited (MICEL), a leader in LED lighting and electronic display solutions, has introduced its Emergency Light Unit (ELU) to enhance railway safety during power outages and emergencies. The ELU is slated for pilot testing on Vande Bharat trains and coaches, with final approval expected within 15 to 25 days, pending successful trial results.
Following the pilot phase, MICEL intends to implement a phased deployment, guided by performance evaluations and feedback from railway authorities. Equipped with innovative features, the ELU ensures uninterrupted illumination during power outages with extended backup capabilities. Its LED-based design offers energy-efficient lighting, while its compact and robust construction ensures durability and compatibility with existing railway infrastructure. These attributes make the ELU an indispensable component for emergency evacuations, visibility, and maintaining operations during critical situations.
The ELU has already undergone Capacity and Caliber Assessment (CCA) approval from the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), with final certification expected shortly. Developed in collaboration with Indian Railways, the product has been tested for compatibility and durability. The initial deployment will be on select Vande Bharat trains as pilot projects, with a broader rollout planned based on performance and user feedback.
MICEL will actively support the deployment by training railway employees in the product’s operation and establishing a dedicated support team to address potential issues. This effort underscores MICEL’s commitment to enhancing safety in partnership with Indian Railways.
