In a significant move to bolster India’s burgeoning semiconductor ecosystem, Messe Muenchen India, the Indian subsidiary of Messe München GmbH, and SEMI, the global industry association, have joined forces to host SEMICON India. This strategic partnership is set to create Southeast Asia’s largest platform for the electronics and semiconductor industry, showcasing the latest advancements in these sectors.

SEMICON India, a new milestone in the Indian semiconductor landscape, will be co-located with two of South Asia’s largest trade fairs for electronics manufacturing – electronica India and productronica India. This move is aligned with the vision of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and marks a significant stride in connecting India’s domestic semiconductor ecosystem with the global industry.

India’s Growing Semiconductor Market

India’s rapidly expanding domestic market, the increasing demand for new-age electronics, including electric vehicles, and the developing supply chain for specialized products and services make it an attractive destination for semiconductor manufacturing and sourcing. Bhupinder Singh, CEO, Messe Muenchen India, highlighted the potential of India’s semiconductor market, valued at $24 billion today and projected to reach $110 billion by 2030.

SEMICON India promises to be a vital event for the semiconductor industry, providing a platform for companies to showcase their products and technologies and to network with potential customers and partners. Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, emphasized the opportunity for stakeholders to build partnerships and develop the ecosystem in India.

Dr Reinhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Messe München, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that SEMICON India will be a high-energy meeting place for global industry innovators, contributing to the development of the ecosystem in India. SEMI connects more than 3,000 member companies and 1.3 million professionals worldwide to advance electronics design and manufacturing. It plays a crucial role in fostering the innovations that enable smarter, faster, more powerful, and affordable electronic products.
