Mercedes-Benz India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to foster innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship within India’s startup ecosystem. Through this partnership, Mercedes-Benz India will offer startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs access to infrastructure, mentorship, funding, and international market opportunities. This initiative supports India’s development goals, with a focus on road safety, environmental sustainability, and societal advancement.

The collaboration will leverage the Startup India initiative to extend the reach of the program, encouraging more startups to participate. Mercedes-Benz India aims to contribute to both technological and economic growth while further enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The DPIIT, which functions under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is responsible for crafting and executing policies related to industrial development, foreign direct investment (FDI), intellectual property rights, and overall business regulations. DPIIT plays a significant role in simplifying regulations and creating a favorable environment for businesses and startups. It oversees initiatives such as Startup India, which offers funding, mentorship, and policy support to entrepreneurs, as well as Make in India, which promotes domestic manufacturing and attracts foreign investment.

The department is also involved in developing industrial policies that encourage sustainable business practices and innovation. It regulates FDI policies to ensure transparency and ease of investment for international businesses across various sectors.

Additionally, DPIIT works on protecting intellectual property rights (IPR) through initiatives like the National IPR Policy, which improves patent filing and enforcement. By creating a supportive business environment, DPIIT fosters economic growth and advances industrial and entrepreneurial development in India.
