Mercedes-Benz India has reported first-quarter sales (January–March 2025) of 4,775 units, continuing its leadership in the luxury automobile segment. This milestone was driven by successful new model launches, upgrades to its retail network, and a continued focus on customer experience. The company’s strategy, guided by its “Desire to Exceed” vision, has led to increased customer loyalty and a growing brand appeal across the country.
The standout performer for FY 2024–25 and Q1 2025 was the Top-End Luxury category, which includes flagship models such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS SUV, and AMG range. This segment recorded a 34% year-on-year growth, with particularly high demand for the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach Night Series, the EQS SUV, and the AMG G 63.
More than 25% of all Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold in India during Q1 2025 came from this segment. Demand for these models continues to outpace supply, with waiting periods ranging from four months to over a year for select vehicles like the AMG G 63.
The company’s ‘Core’ segment—including the C-Class, E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB), GLC, and GLE—remained the largest contributor to sales. In Q1 2025, the E-Class LWB, now available in the new E 450 variant, saw strong customer interest across all markets. It retains its position as the top-selling luxury car in India.
Sales in the Entry Luxury segment declined by 28% in Q1 2025, largely due to increased competition in lower price brackets. However, Mercedes-Benz remains focused on offering feature-rich, value-driven models that cater to rising customer expectations in this segment.
The electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio continued to gain traction, posting a 51% growth in FY 2024–25 and achieving a 7% share of total sales. This upward trend continued in Q1 2025, where BEVs accounted for 8% of total volumes.
Key drivers included strong demand for the locally produced EQS SUV 580 and EQS SUV 450. Mercedes-Benz also saw high interest in its premium electric models, such as the EQS Maybach Night Series and the G 580 with EQ Technology, with waiting periods extending up to 12 months.
In line with its ‘Go to Customer’ strategy, Mercedes-Benz India will significantly expand its retail presence in Q2 2025. The plan includes the addition of 21 new MAR20X luxury outlets across both established and emerging markets.
New showrooms will open in cities such as Kanpur, Jammu, Varanasi, Udaipur, and Patna, alongside expansions in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The company recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art facility in Agra.
Franchise partners are set to invest ₹450 crore over the next three years to support this growth. Celebrating 30 years of operations in India in 2024, Mercedes-Benz remains the country’s most aspirational luxury car brand. Its manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune—established in 2009 with an investment of over ₹3,000 crore—is the largest among luxury automakers in India.
Mercedes-Benz India leads in localization, producing models such as the A-Class, C-Class, E-Class LWB, S-Class, and Maybach S 580. It is also the only luxury brand in India to locally manufacture two electric vehicles: the EQS 580 sedan and EQS 580 SUV.
The India lineup includes locally built SUVs like the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS, as well as completely built imports (CBUs) such as the GLS Maybach, Mercedes-Maybach Night Series, and the full AMG performance range—from the AMG A 45 S to the iconic AMG G 63.
Mercedes-Benz has also taken a lead in the electric luxury space with a portfolio that includes the EQS 580, EQS SUV, EQB, EQA 250+, and the recently launched Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV and the G 580 with EQ Technology.
Mercedes-Benz India pioneered the direct-to-customer sales model in 2021 and remains focused on delivering best-in-class customer experiences. With its “Desire to Exceed” as the guiding theme for 2025, the company aims to strengthen product innovation, expand its luxury network, enhance sustainability efforts, and support wider adoption of electric vehicles through improved charging infrastructure.
