In a historic move, Mercedes-AMG is developing a high-performance SUV entirely in-house for the first time. Named “Born in Affalterbach,” this innovative off-roader is built on the company’s exclusive AMG.EA electric performance platform. The prototype is set for its initial test drives this winter.
Mercedes-AMG has a long history in the high-performance SUV market, dating back over 25 years to the debut of the ML 55 AMG, which pioneered the segment. Today, Mercedes-AMG offers six SUV model lines, including the GLA, GLB, GLC, GLE, GLS, and EQE SUV, with the legendary AMG G 63 serving as a highlight of the lineup.
This latest model marks AMG’s first SUV developed on its own full vehicle architecture, making it the second vehicle on the all-electric AMG.EA platform. It joins a lineup of in-house AMG creations, including models like the GT, SL, and SLS.
